"Where Every Single One of God's Children is Welcome!"
|
Through small groups, Greenhills Community Church seeks to nurture spiritual life for each person, as well as provide fellowship among God's children. We invite you to join one of our Small Groups! It is always hard to get to know other people in a congregation, or community, on a deeper level, even when we may see many of them at worship, and around our communities. All of our small groups are open to everyone. If you would like to suggest a small group beyond those listed here, please email the church secretary (gccpsecretary@fuse.net).

Men's Group
We meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. at the church, usually in the Youth Group room downstairs. Discussion involve spiritual and personal support. Often, an individual will bring a certain reading from a book or the Bible to share which will lead to a discussion on that topic. The group began several years ago after attending some Promise Keepers events. Joys and concernes are share each week along with prayer time. All are welcome. Contact Ken Paullus (825-0140) or Tim Jones (851-4797) for further information.

In addition to the Bell Garden, they trim the hedges, prune the trees, and clean-up the area in both the Spring and Fall. If you would like to help plant flowers, pull weeds, trim, and prune, come join us on Thursdays at 9:00 a.m.. For further information, call Jackie Seymour at 851-9835.

Lunch and Learn Like good food? Like good company? Like lively conversation? If so, join us each third Thursday of the month, at 12:00 noon, for the Lunch and Learn group. It is a potluck luncheon (each person brings a dish to share), and you need to bring your own table service. The discussion might be about a spiritual discipline, a participant's trip to another locale, a season in the life of the church, almost anything. You are invited to join us for good food, discussion, and friendship. Mai Hill (851-4266) can give you more details.

Prayer Shawl Ministry Do you like to knit or crochet? Would you like to learn these crafts? If so, you are invited to come to GCCP on the first Tuesday and/or third Wednesday of each month, to join this group of folks. Knitted or crocheted shwls are made (as well as other items), with prayers for the recipient. When a shawl or scarf is finished, the group says a prayer of dedication. For further information, please call Sissy Simons (648-0838) or Lee Sanders (829-3729)

The "Bookies" This lively bunch gathers on the 4th Monday of the month to discuss a book, to laugh, to share, to enjoy one another's friendship. The 'book of the month' is usually a choice which no one in the group has read before, or it may be any book a person wants to read by a particular author. A wide variety of interests opens all of us to different authors, different outlooks, different worlds - what a marvelous way to grow! If you would like to learn more about this group, or find out what book they are reading right now, call the church office at 825-8400.

Habitat for Humanity 2006 will mark the 16th consecutive year GCCP has been involved as a covenant church with Valley Habitat for Humanity. September 16-23, 2006 (Saturday to Saturday), we will once again need volunteers for a week of work helping to construct a new home for a partner family. Hammer wielders, dry wall installers, siding putter-uppers, lunch makers and servers, prayers are all vital 'tools' in this project. Then, on October 15, 2006, in the evening, workers will put on aprons and chef hats as we prepare and serve a Spaghetti Dinner to raise money for Valley Habitat. In 2005, we raised over $1600 for Valley Habitat. Ron Jandacek (729-3325) serves as our Master-of-all-Trades, and would love to share more about Habitat and how you might become one of the 'crew.' Call him!

Chancel Group There is no set meeting time for these folks! The Chancel Group meets informally, as needed. Part of our Ministry of Worship, these creative folks are responsible for preparing the sanctuary for worship each Sunday. This involves the placing of appropriate items, candles and cloths on the Communion Table. Banners that complement the season or day in the life of the church are displayed in the narthex, as well as the sanctuary. This group also works on making new banners and decorations. If you would like to know more about this group, please call Vickie Paullus (825-0140) or Susan McCamey (779-5425).
